With Halloween right around the
corner, you may already be dreaming up about which treats you’re
going to indulge in with all the goodies around.
While it’s definitely possible to
treat yourself on this day, it’s also a very good idea to plan
ahead and know what to do the rest of the day with your diet so that
you are going to be doing as little damage as possible on Halloween
evening.
If you tailor your diet in a certain
manner so as to build-up a bit of a calorie deficit, this leaves you
more overall ‘wiggle room’ to have those treats you crave without
risking weight gain.
Let’s go over a few key things to
remember.
Don’t Skip Breakfast
The very first thing that you must
make sure you aren’t doing is skipping breakfast. Some people will
do this thinking that it’s a great way to bank calories for the
evening, but this is just going to end up backfiring on them.
If you skip breakfast, you’ll be
battling hunger all morning and the chances that you eat something
you shouldn’t come lunch are going to be that much higher.
Do this and then you’ll really be
setting yourself up for diet disaster as you indulge in the evening
as well.
Focus On Protein And Vegetables
Moving along, another thing that you
should keep in mind as you go about the day-time period on Halloween
is that ideally you want to focus on protein and vegetable based
meals only.
This cuts out the carb and/or fat
calories that you would normally be having throughout the day, which
then allows you to bank those extra calories for later on instead.
Since protein is the one nutrient
that you absolutely cannot do without on your diet plan, it’s a
must to be taking in.
Vegetables provide the fiber and
bulk that you need to keep hunger pains lower and also add more food
to your meals as well so you don’t feel quite so deprived.
Consider Doing This Two To Three
Days Beforehand Depending On How Aggressively You Want To Indulge
Finally, the last thing to take note
of is that you may want to consider following this protocol for a few
days before Halloween if you know that you do typically indulge quite
extensively on the holiday and will be taking in more calories
overall.
This will help you build-up that
greater calorie deficit so that when the day comes, you’re all
ready to treat yourself without guilt.
If you do this for two or three
days, you should easily be able to build up around a 1500 calorie or
so deficit, which would be the equivalent of around 15 mini chocolate
bars or candy packs. Most people won’t eat that many come
Halloween, so you should be able to get through the holiday
weight-gain free.
So keep this
daily eating schedule in mind as you approach Halloween and you won’t
be seeking weight loss advice once it’s over.
